Viva la Velvet

One luscious trend I am loving for Fall is velvet. The soft fabric makes me think I should be on a romantic rendezvous- or just stuck in the 90's. Wearing this trend may be finicky for some. I think it looks best in small doses, here are a few of my favorites. However, if you have the confidence or the body, by all means rock a slinky velvet dress.

Monday? It's a Doozie!

I have very fond memories of being rewarded as a child with a delicious Doozie from The Great American Cookie Company. So obviously when I realized we had frosting sitting in the cabinet I had to make up a batch up these for my roommates! Sugar cookies are super easy to make, I used this recipe, and then you just sandwich two cookies with your choice of frosting in the middle. I added sprinkles to the icing that is seen for a little color and decoration.

{You can make these with your choice of cookie and frosting}

Rachel Roy Spring 2011

Just a few pieces from Rachel Roy's Spring 2011 collection. I think these simplistic perfection. I love the presence of the 50's in the pieces, yet they are still beautifully flow-y and comfortable. Although I love seeing all of these Spring lines, I am in full on Fall mode! Give me a brisk breeze, boots, a cozy cardigan, and a Pumpkin Spice latte.

I Was Tagged!

The wonderful Jenna from Seven Style Notes tagged me in this little questionnaire. I hope you enjoy learning a little bit about me and tag 3 people for yourself!! Spread the love :)

1. Why did you start blogging?

I love writing and I love styling. It is such a great feeling when I find good deals on clothing or accessories and I wanted to share that, with a little bit of my personal life, home decor, and delicious recipes, with the blogging community. My readers and the constant positive feedback has been an unexpected perk and an incredible blessing.

2. Do you prefer Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter?

I love them all for what they are. Summer is great for relaxing and wearing fun and loose tops and dresses to keep cool. Winter because it allows me to wear coats and chunky knits. Spring and autumn are probably my favorite because of the mild weather and the ability to layer and have flexibility with my outfit choices.

3. What did you notice first: Smokey eye makeup or bright lips?

Lips! Nothing pops more than a bright red or coral lipstick.

4. Who are your style icons?

I love love love Rachel Bilson and Whitney Port because they are so effortlessly chic. My classic go-to style mavin is Audrey Hepburn. Finally, I think Blake Lively dresses so glamorously with a slight eclectic touch (IRL & on GG), which I adore.

5. Describe your personality in 3 words.

Easygoing, Honest, Loving

6. If you had to leave the house with only one item of make-up what would it be?

Mascara, done and done.

7. Which era do you think influenced fashion the most?

I think it rotates! We have seen a reincarnation of the 40's, 60's, and 80's recently. Personally, I love the vintage glam of the 1940's and 50's and the hippy feel of the late 1960's.

8. What beauty item do you always repurchase?

Bare Minerals Foundation

Embellished Hair

I am a fan of Forever 21 anything. Trendy tops to basics and accessories their assortment never fails and the prices never break the bank. I love headbands because they add a little sparkle to your outfit with out overdoing it with jewelry. These headbands and clips are super cute and inexpensive.

Sopapilla Cheesecake

I love having friends over and having an excuse to eat an enormous amount of unnecessary calories. While I love cheesecake and cream cheese I usually am pretty main stream and go with a cookie or a bowl of ice cream for dessert. Of course I like to spice things up when there are guests involved and this recipe is perfect for a quick and easy dessert and is always a hit. It is great right out of the oven but I also love it cold.

Line 'Em Up

{OMG}
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T05IWRdIqzQ

I am anxiously awaiting the season premieres of several shows. One thing about summer is that there are no new episodes of my favorites to watch each week. {Except for Bravo, keeping me entertained 12 months of the year} It is also pilot season, of course I already watch way too much television so I really shouldn't pick up another weekly show. Although, My Generation, on ABC, does look interesting. It also shoots in Austin so maybe I will go be a guest star and then meet my own Hollywood hunk- or not. So are there any shows {old or new} you are pee-your-pants excited for?

Here's my line-up:

Gossip Girl
The Office
Glee
One Tree Hill {Yes, I still watch it...I feel you judging me}
Friday Night Lights

In the Shade

I am always enamored with anything and everything Anthropologie. Always on my online and IRL shopping stops I love looking at their amazing pieces from the home to the accessories. I seriously plan on registering for my wedding at Anthropologie, who needs electronics? Anyway, after drooling over their lamp shades I realized how easily some of them could be recreated! For instance, you could braid the ribbon and hand sew it to another piece and simply hot glue that to an old shade. I don't have an example but I thought I would share the idea!

I also LOVE this one. Similar rules apply, find some funky beading/fabric and express you inner-eclectic with a one of a kind lamp shade!

Happy Tuesday :)

ABC's of Fall Part III

1. Lot 78- $1,050

2. Jack by BB Dakota for Piperlime- $85

3. Topshop- $190

While I have not ultimately decided if I am going to continue these posts through entire alphabet, but either way I had to do a post dedicated to coats. Coats are the icing on top of our outfits in the winter, they can be casual, sporty, and formal. No matter your preference or your taste in fashion every single one of you will wear a coat. Although I did not include one, lush camel colors are wonderful right now. The difference between khaki and camel may seem slight, yet something about camel is so chic.

ABC's of Fall Part II

1. Ruche- $40

2. Steve Madden- $100

3. Jeffrey Campbell- $189

I have to tell you, I have a slight obsession with boots. Unfortunately they are not always the cheapest items, and with good measure because they last so long. I do recommend having a go-to pair in both black and brown. Buying a pair in a cognac color is also a good alternative when you are investing in a quality pair of boots because it matches anything. Whether over jeans or paired with a skirt boots will consistently be my number one must-have for fall.

I have been fascinated with the latest trends as I am scouring online shops and magazines for my upcoming fall splurge. I split this post into three parts just so I can have the excuse to continue my online shopping addiction. I also have to add that I am an avid supporter of the idea that trends should always be balanced out with classic pieces. I can't wait to see how you all incorporate these trends into your fall wardrobe.

2. Spiegal- $29
